Sara Kim, MD
Acting Instructor
Dr. Kim’s research is focused on respiratory viral infections, specifically respiratory syncytial virus, in immunocompromised adult and children. She is interested in host factors that prevent disease progression in hematopoietic cell transplantation recipients. Currently, she is studying the systemic immune responses, including humoral, mucosal, and cellular processes, after respiratory syncytial virus infection in hematopoietic cell transplantation recipients. She works closely with Drs Michael Boeckh and Alpana Waghmare in studies of epidemiology, prevention, and treatment of respiratory viral infections in immunocompromised hosts of all ages. Clinically, Dr. Kim rotates through the inpatient Infectious Diseases consultation service and is a part of the transplant infectious diseases team.
