UW Department of Pediatrics faculty provide exceptional primary and specialty care for children and adolescents at hospitals, clinics, and other sites across Washington state.
Seattle Children’s is the primary teaching, clinical, and research site for the Department of Pediatrics, and the majority of physicians who practice at Seattle Children’s hold faculty appointments within the UW School of Medicine. Our other major affiliated hospitals are the University of Washington Medical Center, a 450-bed teaching and research hospital offering comprehensive care, and Harborview Medical Center, the region’s only Level I adult and pediatric trauma and burn center.

In 2025, U.S. News & World Report again named Seattle Children’s among the top 10 best children’s hospitals in the U.S. and the best in the Pacific Northwest. U.S. News & World Report has recognized Seattle Children’s as a top children’s hospital every year since it began ranking medical centers more than 30 years ago.
UW Medicine
As the only comprehensive clinical, research and learning health system in the five-state WWAMI region, UW Medicine provides a higher degree of healthcare, ranging from primary and preventive care to highly specialized care for complex medical conditions. Pediatric care at UW Medicine includes emergency services, primary care at clinics throughout Puget Sound, and specialty care at sites like the Institute for Human Development and Disability (IHDD). The Pediatric Clinic at Harborview Medical Center provides walk-in primary care services for youth experiencing homelessness at two shelters in King County.
